Delight Yourselves in the Lord

"Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass"(Psalm 37:4-5).

When the righteous have desires that spring from the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the LORD Himself will be faithful to fulfill those desires!! He is faithful!! The LORD says, "Delight yourself in HIM, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Keep in mind, that does not mean simply that God will bless everything that we might wish or think! By no means! The desires of our own carnal, unregenerate nature are often warped, perverted, downright sinful and self-serving. If the Lord were to satisfy these self-centered desires, the outcome would do us harm rather than good. In their place, the Lord in His rich mercy and unfailing love, promises us new desires, godly desires, desires that please Him, and him alone...the kind of desires God Himself has! Bit by bit, he is restoring the image of God in us that was first lost in Adam’s fall.

This is what the LORD desires for you! And what would that be?? Answer! (Psalm 51:6," Behold, you desire TRUTH in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom"). God desires our hearts, nothing more, nothing less. The sacrifice of a redeemed heart is the only offering that God desires from us. Then, and only then will the LORD satisfy these desires, because they are the ones that He Himself has given to His adopted children. What is our response to this in faith? Answer: I will by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the help of His Holy Spirit, find my full delight in God's righteousness and seek no other source of satisfaction apart from Him!" (Matthew 6:33). May He grant this to us for His glory and for His sake!
